Kate Burgess - Speech and Language Therapist
Hi there! Iβm Kate, and I love being a Speech and Language Therapist.
I graduated from university with a degree (a BSc) in Speech and Language Therapy in 2009 and I have over 16 years of clinical experience working with children and their families.
I pride myself on my dynamic, family centred-approach and my ability to work alongside others to produce the best possible outcomes for the children on my caseload. My ethos is that we are a team, guided by my expertise when needed, working together to help your child meet their communication potential.
I purposefully offer a flexible, tailor made service for each family so that your child can get the support they need, in a timely way, to flourish.
I have experience working with children with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) including speech sound difficulties, language delays (sometimes referred to as Developmental Language Disorder), Autism, Down Syndrome and stammering.
Reliable, Safe, Registered.
All Speech and Language Therapists in the UK must be registered with the Health Care Professions Council (the HCPC) and have a degree in Speech and Language Therapy. I am registered with the HCPC, as well as the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy (RCSLT) and I am a member of the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP).
Part our the responsibility of a Speech and Language Therapist is to engage in Continuing Professional Development; ensuring we remain up to date with the evidence base.
I am qualified in the following therapy approaches, and attend regular conferences, online learning and read journals and articles related to my work.
