How I Can Help?

  • A thorough and detailed assessment of your child’s communication strengths and needs, using a range of formal, informal and dynamic assessment techniques and a full case history from parents/carers. There is flexibility of where the assessment can take place; your home, your child’s nursery/school or other familiar environment. You will receive verbal feedback immediately after the session, and we will agree the appropriate next steps.

There are two types of assessment available, please discuss with me which one will best meet you and your child’s needs.

  • Therapy activities will be planned specifically with your child in mind, with an understanding of your family dynamic. We Can CommuniKate recognises the importance of recommendations being realistic for your day to day family life and as parent/carer you will be part of the decision making process, for example we will set therapy goals jointly. We will always work together to find the best fit for you.

Recommendations made are evidence based, and can be adapted to suit reflect your financial circumstances while still supporting your child to reach their communication potential.

  • Training is available for parents/carers and education settings alike. Training is available to cover a range of topics, including how to support children within the EYFS and specific techniques to support children. We can also carry out audits to support your setting to become a Language Rich Environment and a Communication Friendly Environment.

Kate is trained to deliver several external training programmes, including ELKLAN, Hanen More Than Words and Attention Autism.

  • Additional services are also available, for example attending meetings at school or nursery, writing detailed reports or providing supervision to other Speech and Language Therapists. Please do not hesitate to be in touch, should you think there is a way I may be able to help you.
