Hi, my name is Kate and I’m a Children’s Speech & Language Therapist with 14 years of experience. I’m also a Mum of two young children.

I’ve worked with hundreds (if not thousands) of families to help all children reach their communication potential.

I’ve spent my whole career helping parents, caregivers & professionals understand not just how to develop communication skills, but how to fit the ideas into their daily life to set them up for success.

As a parent myself I have often found it frustrating reading conflicting advice and having to endlessly scroll to find ideas that might support my children - which I then forget when I’m ‘in the moment’ because there is so much going on! CommuniKate with Confidence sets you up for success by supporting you to do the planning and thinking in advance, so that when you’re in the middle of bath time, it feels easy and automatic to use one of tools you’ll learn on the course.

About Me

FAQs

  • I think this comes down to your personal preference, and what you can commit to in terms of appointments and financial investment. To cover 5 strategies in person we’d need at least 5 sessions, which are £77 each.

    Because this Adult Child Interaction is based on adult’s understanding and using the strategies, as long as you think you can learn from watching, listening and planning then I don’t see face to face as being superior to online learning. And of course being online has the advantage that you can watch the videos at a time when you’re ready to learn, whether that’s during nap time, after bed time or on the commute to work. If you come to a face to face session, but your child is grumpy and protesting about needing a snack etc, that’s often not the easiest way for you to learn either!

  • This is really difficult to answer without having met you and your child, and even then, I can only make my best estimate.

    Completing the course doesn’t mean you definitely won’t need to access further Speech & Language Therapy for your child, but it does mean you’ll have taken the first steps & laid the foundation for communication development.

  • These tools & strategies are evidence based and it has been consistently shown that when parents/carers use these tools, their child has access to high quality interactions and a communication-friendly environment, which makes learning language and communication skills easier.

    All the parents & care givers who have taken part in the course so far have seen positive changes in their child.

  • This course is designed to set you up for success. Focusing on only one strategy per week means that you’ll have the ability to plan - in detail - precisely when you’re going to use each tool in your week to turn the great idea into great action.

    By focusing on one strategy each week, you’ll also be able to practise it lots and get proficient at using it. Before you know it, it’ll become a habit. Consistent, accurate use of the strategies is what leads to your child’s progress.

  • I wrote this course because these strategies and tools are universal, and good advice for everyone. I found I was responding to nearly every enquiry, DM on social media and beginning every child’s therapy journey by introducing these strategies and tools. The form the foundations for effective communication development and are often what further therapy is built on, if further therapy is required.

  • Usually a speech sound difficulty or a stammer is best supported by individual, one to one therapy. However, much of this course would still be useful, if you wanted some extra information alongside your face to face sessions or are waiting for your sessions to start.
